Q:
I do not have an option for ADAT on my Digidesign DIGI 002 or 002 Rack. In the Hardware Setups window the Optical port says it's off. It says: RCA = S/PDIF, Optical = Off. Why has that happened?
A:
In Pro Tools LE with the Digi 002 or Digi 002 Rack, if you are looking in the Hardware Setups window (Setups menu > Hardware Setups) and it says RCA = S/PDIF, Optical = Off. That's because the sample rate of your Pro Tools session is at 96k. The Optical standard doesn't go to 96k, only to 44.1k or 48k. Therefore, you must have a Pro Tools session with a sample rate of 44.1k or 48k.
Launch a new Pro Tools session at 44.1k or 48k, then go back to the Hardware Setups window (Setups menu > Hardware Setups), now you can choose RCA = S/PDIF, Optical = ADAT.
