Q:
How do I create a template for Pro Tools 7 running on Windows XP?
A:
To create a custom session template in Windows:
1 Create a session and arrange its elements as you want them to appear in the template. You can also define elements such as signal routings, insert and send configurations, Track Views, ruler settings, and Preference settings. 2 Choose File > Save As. 3 Name the session and click Save. 4 Close the session. 5 Locate the session file that you just saved. 6 Right-click the .PTS file and choose Properties. 7 Under Attributes, select Read Only. Now when you open the "template" session it will open up as a blank template. It will not give you a option to save until you do a "save as..." Use the "save as..." command to rename it and save it where you would like the new session to be.
