Q:
I am getting popping and clicking with Ivory as a VST, but not with other VST virtual instruments. Why?
A:
Ivory works with VST-compliant hosts. And clicking and popping in Ivory is usually an indication of a RAM issue. However, there are several things to check:
• Make sure you meet Ivory's minimum requirements. If your VST host has additional requirements, make sure you meet those as well. • Install the latest version of Ivory, available from: www.synthogy.com • Try the standalone version of Ivory (only available in version 1.6 and later) to see if the pops/clicks persist. • Verify the library with the Ivory Library Tools, found in the Ivory Items/ Tools folder. • Try starting with the default settings in Ivroy, and choosing a 4-level keyset. • Make sure you VST host is using an ASIO driver. • If the Ivory library is on a USB drive, try transferring it to a firewire or internal drive. Also make sure that the library drive runs at 7200 RPM or greater. • Test your system's RAM for errors. PC users can use memtest86+ (memtest.org). Mac users can use Apple's hardware test. • If all else fails, you may need to use a faster CPU and/or get more RAM in your system.
