Q:
I imported audio into Finale 2008 and it's tempo drifts from the tempo in my score. What can I do?
A:
This can occur if the imported audio is not at a perfect, constant tempo throughout the entire length of the audio file. This causes a dift or mismatch, when compared to a "perfect" tempo of a finale score. Currently, the only workaround is to use the tap tempo function and "tap" each beat of the audio file into the finale score so that the finale score will adjust to match the fluctuating tempo of the audio file. This must be done for the entire length of the audio file, not just the first few bars.
Another possibility is to import the desired audio file into software that has the ability to quantize audio and time stretch/adjust audio to match a desired tempo. Once the audio is adjusted to match the desired tempo, the new audio file it can be imported into into finale so that its tempo will be more perfect to match the tempo of your finale score.
