Q:
Sounds for Synths - How to Find Them

A:
A question about the SY-77 from Bryan: "I have an SY77 keyboard and have noticed that the electric piano patches just don't sound as good as the original DX7 keyboard sounds. I know when the SY77 first came out it had a floppy disk that had all the old DX7 sounds on it, but for some reason, I didn't get one - and of course, they don't make them anymore. I've also spent money on third party sounds with no success. Was just wondering if you could help me." I believe you'll find what you need at this web address: www.yamahasynth.com This is Yamaha's Synth Zone website, a good thing to know about regardless, especially if you happen to own a Yamaha synth (or maybe would like to do a little research). Generally these days, not only will the manufacturer of synth products have sound banks available as downloads from their website, but also some helpful and industrious fellow users. For instance, when I searched for "SY-77" with my Custom Overhead Cam, Boolean Extrapolator-Deluxe Search Engine, I also came up with a couple of other good places to find files for the SY-77. A German Site called Memi.com had some free banks to download. Sounds were also available at a site called CyberDen. Incidentally, both of the latter two sites also had patches for quite a few other keyboards, including makes such as Ensoniq, Korg, Roland, and Waldorf.
