Q:
Bit Depth of effects cards in the Roland VS-2480.
A:
It's a little scary when we get a statistically significant number of support questions about a product that hasn't shipped yet (and isn't expected to ship for at least another month or two), but this has come up enough to address. The VS-2480 has 56-bit internal processing, what happens when you run a 56-bit signal through the VS8F-2 effects board (since the VS8F-2 is 24-bit)?Even though the VS8F-2 has done only 24-bit effects in current Roland recorders, it can handle 56-bit data without any problems. Remember the VS8F-2 is only raw DSP power, it has no software. It is up to the recorder to configure it. The VS-2480 contains software that allows the VS8F-2 to function in 56-bit form. This is not your father's VS recorder!
