Q:
HUM when using Little Lites
A:
Explanation
Due to the layout of the AC and DC voltages and grounds, on the DCP-200 power supply, inside the cable to the mixer, a buss appears on the console when the Little Lites are plugged in. Solution The conductors inside the cable need to be re-wired as follows to avoid crosstalk of the AC voltages and grounds. 1) Switch OFF power supply and disconnect from mains outlet 2) Open the power supply and disconnect CON 2 (8wy connector) from the PCB 3) With a sharp knife of scriber carefully remove the following crimps out of the connector housing. Pin 1,2,3,4,&7 Re-arrange the colours and re-plug them as follows PIN 1 GREY PIN 2 WHITE PIN 3 BROWN PIN 4 BLUE PIN 7 VIOLET Re-plug the connector to the PCB and Re-assemble the PSU lid. 4) Open the connector at the end of the cable as follows: Remove the 2 strain relief screws and the small grub screw with a small 1mm alan key. (Careful not to lose this!) Unscrew the connector so the connections are visible. Un-solder (1,2,3,5,6,9) (I think 2 is already RED) Re-solder the colours as follows: (This step is a .....) PIN 1 WHITE PIN 2 RED (May be PINK on some cables!) PIN 3 GREY PIN 5 BROWN PIN 6 BLUE PIN 9 VIOLET Re-assemble the connector BEFORE CONNECTING TO THE CONSOLE MEASURE THE VOLTAGES AT THE CONNECTOR END OF THE CABLE as follows Audio ground PIN 5 +17v - PIN 1P -17v -PIN 3 +48 v PIN 10 (+48v ground - pin 6) 12 ac Between pins 2 and 9 little lite voltage DON'T EVEN START WITHOUT A 1mm Hex Key ! (a 0.050" will also work) |
