Version 3.54 details
A:
Kurzweil K2000 Version 3.54 - New Features
Programming and Performance Features Eight 32-Layer Drum Channels are now available (P-RAM option required). By default, MIDI Channels 1-8 are defined as Drum Channels. You can, however, use the DrumChan parameter on the Master page to define a Channel numbered higher than 8 to be a Drum Channel. In this case, the Channel you choose, along with MIDI Channels 1-7 will be your Drum Channels. For example, if you set DrumChan to 13, then your eight Drum Channels will be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 13. If you set DrumChan to a value of 8 or less, however, your Drum Channels will always be 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. A new option, "On2," has been added for the Sustain Pedal (Program Editor - LAYER page). When you select "On2," the Sustain Pedal will not catch the release of a note that is still sounding when the sustain message is received; this can be very useful in a Program that uses Amplitude Envelopes with a long release time. Disk Mode Enhancements Standard MIDI Type 1 files can now be imported. (Previously only Type 0 could be imported.) "Verify" has been added to the Disk page. This option, which is Off by default, double-checks the data integrity of all your Backup, Copy, and Save operations. Verification also, however, increases the time required for these operations; you may not need to use it if you have a stable SCSI setup. An Info soft button is now available on the Utilities page in Disk mode. Press this soft button to display information about your disk drive(s). The More button on the Info page displays formatting information for use by service personnel. Also added to Disk mode is Multiple File Copy. As with other Disk mode operations, use the Select soft button to select multiple files to Copy. The K2000 will now give you an option when you have formatted a floppy to format another one. If you are formatting several floppies you will not have to start from scratch each time. The K2000's SCSI subsystem has been enhanced to accept a greater variety of devices. Support for Iomega Zip/Jaz drives has been improved (the lockup problem that occurred if the drive went to sleep has been eliminated), and many more CD-ROM drives are now compatible with the K2000 (almost all CD-ROM drives except NEC now work). Furthermore, the K2000 now supports disk drives of up to 2 Gigabytes (2048 Meg). V3.54 will work with drives larger than 2G but only the first 2 G will be utilized. Previous to v3.54, for the Backup and Copy functions, the combined size of both drives had to be under 1 Gig unless PRAM was installed. This limitation no longer exists. Compatibility with the Mac’s “PC Exchange” extension has been improved in V3.54. This upgrade is now available and we have some on order. Here are the item id's that you will be using. Hang with me here because it can be a little confusing. Note to experienced guys: This is DIFFERENT than how we have done this in the past so please read and understand. V31to3C -use this for any Calvin K2000 that is currently at version 1. Please note that this record will always have a zero count but as long as we have V32to3C, service can make a V31to3C for your invoice (careful, this may take a little extra time). V31to3J -use this for any Janis K2000 that is currently at version 1. Please note that this record will always have a zero count but as long as we have V32to3J, service can make a V31to3J for your invoice (careful, this may take a little extra time). V32to3C -use this for any Calvin K2000 that is currently at version 2 OR version 3. V32to3J -use this for any Janis K2000 that is currently at version 2 OR version 3. Note: Do NOT sell a V2 style upgrade to a guy who has a V1 machine or it will not work. There is a reason why it costs more. It's important to sell the right one. When the machine boots up it tells you the current version of software. Just have your customer boot his up and read to you what it says. V3Deposit -use this on all domestic invoices that any V3 is sold. The customer can swap out (2) engine chips and send them back to us for a $50.00 refund. Service will provide an RA for the customer so the chips can be returned. V3INT -use this for all International V3 sales. We do not want the old chips back. Special Notes: • How do you determine a Janis or Calvin K2000? 100% reliable: Turn on the machine. When the opening screen comes up you will see the software version displayed. If it has a "J" after it then it is Janice. If there is no letter it is Calvin. Example: "V3.18" = Calvin, "V3.18J" = Janice 90% reliable but sometimes this method produces an incorrect answer: Get the serial number from the customer. If the serial number starts with a 92 or 93 then the K2000 is a Calvin. If the serial number starts with a 21 then the K2000 is a Janis. • If you send the wrong chips to a guy his machine will not work. These will be inventory items so service will not be able to bail you out. You will have to do a return and sell the proper upgrade!! • No, this is not a free upgrade to current K2000 owners with V3. |
