Intitialize a Performance:
1. Press [PERFORMANCE].
2. Press [JOB].
3. Select INIT PERFORM.
4. Press [ENTER] twice, then [YES] once.

Choose your Voices:
1. Press [EDIT].
2. Press [F2] PART. Choose a Voice for Part 1, then dial Part 2 and choose a second Voice, etc.
3. After choosing up to 16 Voices for the 16 Parts, press [STORE] and select a Performance
location.
4. Press [ENTER], then [YES].

Record your Song:
1. Press [SONG].
2. Press [F4] NAME and name your song.
3. Press [F1] SONG.
4. Press [REC].
5. Cursor to TRACK and choose a Track. (The Song Tracks will play the Performance Parts.)
6. Press [PLAY] to begin recording.
7. When finished, press [STOP].
8. Select another Track and repeat steps 4-8 until song is completed.

Assign the Performance to a Song:
First you should probably create a blank measure at the beginning of the song, so any notes that start right at the beginning will not "choke" as the Performance is being called up...
1. Move the cursor under Track 1 at the top of the screen.
2. Press [JOB].
3. Press [F3] JOB 2. Select CREATE MEASURE.
4. Press [ENTER] twice, then [YES] once.
5. Press [EDIT].
6. Press [F5] INS for "Insert."
7. Dial PC in the screen.
8. Under 'Bank,' type in the numbers 063-064 (this is the Performance Bank).
9. Under 'Num,' type in the number of the Performance you want to use with the song.
10. Press [ENTER].

Save your Song to Disk:
1. Insert a blank 3.5" micro floppy disk into the disk drive of the EX7.
2. Press [DISK].
3. Press [F6] FORM for "Format."
4. Press [ENTER], then [YES]. This will format the disk to be used on the EX.
5. Press [F1] SAVE.
6. Press [F6] SONG.
7. Press [ENTER], then [YES].


WHEN A VOICE SOUNDS DIFFERENT IN PERFORMANCE MODE...


1. Press [VOICE].
2. Select the desired Voice.
3. Press [EDIT].
4. Press [F7] CTRL. (Not necessary for a Drum Voice.)
5. Press [F7] PITCH. Write down Portamento settings (Sw / Time / Mode). (Not necessary for a
Drum Voice.)
6. Press [EXIT]. (Not necessary for a Drum Voice.)
7. Press [F8] EFCT.
8. Press [F4] TYPE.
9. Cursor to the bottom line of the screen.
10. Cursor to the #3 knob and write down the REV SEND level showing at the top of the screen.
11. Cursor to the #4 knob and write down the CHO SEND level showing at the top of the screen.
12. Cursor up twice to another #4 knob and write down the CHO > REV level showing at the top
of the screen.
13. Press [F5] INS 1. Write down whether or not Insert Effect 1 is being used. (It is being used if
the TYPE number is anything other than 00.)
14. Press [F6] INS 2. Write down whether or not Insert Effect 2 is being used. (It is being used if
the TYPE number is anything other than 00.)
15. Press [PERFORMANCE].
16. Press [JOB].
17. Select INIT PERFORM.
18. Press [ENTER] twice, then [YES] once.
19. Press [EDIT].
20. Press [F2] PART.
21. Press [F4] MIX.
22. Select a Part and then the same Voice you had in Voice mode.
23. Press [F1] COM a few times to get to the 'Com Parameter' screen.
24. Press [F6] EFCT.
25. Press [F7] REV.
26. Press [F5] COPY.
27. Press [YES].
28. Press [F8] CHO.
29. Press [F5] COPY.
30. Press [YES].
31. Press [F6] TYPE.
32. Cursor to the #3 knob in the center of the screen and put in the CHO > REV level.
33. Press [F2] PART.
34. Put in the Reverb Send level, Chorus Send level and turn the INS EF SWITCH to ON (if the
Voice used any Insert Effects).
35. Press [F6] SOUND.
36. Put in the Portamento settings (Sw / Time / Mode). (Not necessary for a Drum Voice.)

The Voice should now sound the same in Performance mode as it did in Voice mode. (Remember to press [STORE] and store the Performance to a Performance location if you want to save the settings.)






SAVING SAMPLES TO DISK...


If you just save the raw samples to disk, the EX5 will only load them as 0001, 0002, etc. (even if you gave the samples names). In order to load them back in individually from various banks on the disk, you need to save the samples to disk as Waves. This way you can load the individual Waves into the EX5 by name, in the order you want.

Record the Sample:
1. Record a sample into the RAM memory.
2. Name it.

Initialize a Voice:
1. Press [VOICE].
2. Press [JOB].
3. Select INIT VOICE.
4. Press [ENTER] twice, then [YES] once.

Make a Wave from the Sample:
1. Press [EDIT].
2. Press [F2] OSC.
3. Dial 'RAM' memory and a number (0001, etc.) for one of the four Element locations.
4. Press [F3] WAVE EDIT.
5. Press [F3] ADD.
6. Dial 'RAM' memory and the number of the Sample. You have now added the Sample into a
Wave.
7. Press [F5] NAME.
8. Name the Wave.
9. Press [EXIT].

Repeat this process for all your samples, then save your entire bank of Waves to disk...

Save the Wave Bank to Disk:
1. Press [DISK].
2. Press [F1] SAVE.
3. Cursor to WAVE.
4. Press [ENTER].
5. Press [F7] NAME and name the Wave bank.
6. Press [EXIT].
7. Press [ENTER], then [YES].














SAVING SAMPLES TO FLASH RAM...


If you just save the raw Samples to Flash RAM, the Voice cannot use them because it is looking for Waves. Here are the steps for saving Waves to Flash RAM...

Record the Sample:
1. Record a Sample into the RAM memory.
2. Name it.

Initialize a Voice:
1. Press [VOICE].
2. Press [JOB].
3. Select INIT VOICE.
4. Press [ENTER] twice, then [YES] once.

Make a Wave from the Sample:
1. Press [EDIT].
2. Press [F2] OSC.
3. Dial 'RAM' memory and a number (0001, etc.) for one of the four Element locations.
4. Press [F3] WAVE EDIT.
5. Press [F3] ADD.
6. Dial 'RAM' memory and the number of the Sample. You have now added the Sample into a
Wave.
7. Press [F5] NAME.
8. Name the Wave.

*Note*
You put a Sample into a Wave using "WAVE EDIT". This option is only available when the OSC Wave Bank is a "RAM" based wave ( Not PRE or FLS ).

*Warning*
RAM memory is lost when the unit is turned off.

Copy the Wave from RAM Memory to Flash RAM Memory:
1. Press [JOB].
2. Select COPY WAVE.
3. Press [ENTER].
4. Select the Flash RAM memory and a location number for the destination of your Wave
(DST WAVE=FLS 0001, etc.).
5. Press e int[ENTER], then [YES].
6. Press [EXIT] twice.

Store the Voice:
1. Press [STORE].
2. Select a Voice location.
3. Press [ENTER], then [YES].







RESAMPLING A VOICE*


1. Press [VOICE] and select the desired Voice.
2. Press [SAMPLE].
3. Press [F8] REC.
4. Select a REC MODE (stereo, etc.) on the screen.
5. Select SOURCE=INTERNAL on the screen.
6. Select TRIGGER=KEY on the screen.
7. Press [F8] STANDBY.
8. To begin recording, hold down the C3 key until the Voice has gone through at least one full
cycle.
9. Press [F8] STOP.
10. Press [EXIT].

*Note*
To use the Sample in a Voice, go into Voice Edit mode and call up the Sample. At this point you can make it into a Wave and give it envelope settings, effects, etc.


SAMPLING A PATTERN OR SEQUENCE


1. Press [PATTERN] and select the desired Pattern, or press [SONG] to select a Sequence.
2. Press [SAMPLE].
3. Press [F8] REC.
4. Select a recording mode (REC MODE=L+R, etc.) in the screen.
5. Select SOURCE=INTERNAL in the screen.
6. Select TRIGGER=KEY in the screen.
7. Press [F8] STANDBY.
8. To begin recording, press [PLAY].
9. When finished, press [F8] STOP.
10. Press [EXIT].

*Note*
To use the Sample in a Voice, go into Voice Edit mode and call up the Sample. At this point you can make it into a Wave and give it envelope settings, effects, etc.


TRACK ROUTING FOR INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL MIDI SOURCES*


1. Press [SONG].
2. Press [F4] TCH.
3. Route each Track by connecting or disconnecting the lines.


RECORDING THE ARPEGGIATOR*


1. Press [SONG].
2. Press [REC].
3. Select SRC=ARPEGGIO (at the bottom of the screen).
