How do I install the Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router in Windows 2000? Sonic Foundry Vegas- Virtual MIDI Router
A: The Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router is included with ACID Pro, Sound Forge, and Vegas. Note that the following instructions are for installing the VMR on Windows 2000 only. Instructions for installing the VMR on Windows 95/98/NT can be found in your software manual. 1.Put the Sonic Foundry Software CD in your CD-ROM drive. 2.Go to Start --> Settings --> Control Panel, and double-click on the Add/Remove Hardware icon. 3.In the Add/Remove Hardware wizard, click the Next button. 4.Leave the default choice of Add/Troubleshoot a Device, and click Next. 5.The Add New Hardware wizard will present you with a list of Devices to add. Select Add a New Device, and click Next. 6.The next window asks "Do you want Windows to search for your new hardware?" Select the radio button next to "No, I want to select the hardware from a list", and click Next. 7.The next window allows you to select the type of hardware you want to install. Click on the Sound, Video, and Game Controllers option, and click Next. 8.The next window allows you to select the manufacturer and model for your hardware. Click the Have Disk button, then Browse. 9.Browse to your CD-ROM drive, then to Extras\Virtual MIDI Router 4.0\WinNT\. Choose the oemsetup.inf file, and click Open. 10.In the Install From Disk window, click OK. (You may see a warning notice "Digital Signature Not Found". Click the Yes button.) 11.In the Models list, click on the Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router (x86), and click Next. 12.Sonic Foundry Virtual MIDI Router (x86) will be displayed in the next window. Click Next. You may see a warning notice "Digital Signature Not Found". Select the Yes button. Windows will then copy the files. 13.After the files are copied, you will be asked to select from 1 to 4 Virtual MIDI ports. Select the number of ports you prefer, and click OK. 14.Select Finish on the Add/Remove Hardware Wizard. Restart Windows. When Windows restarts, all programs that support MIDI can use the Virtual MIDI Router.
