Please be aware that Control|24 ships with the fuse socket empty. If the user tries to turn it on before installing a fuse, nothing will happen.
To insure the quietest possible operation, the power supply is linear and does not sense input voltage and automatically switch. It's very important that we educate users to select and install the proper fuse for their location. This info is documented in the RTF as well as the User Guide, but CS is getting lots of calls on this issue. Please help us by telling your customers about this and helping them understand that it's actually to their benefit that we don't use a switching power supply. Here's an excerpt from the RTF: Before operating your Control|24,it is required that you place the correct fuse into the socket and insert it into the fuse holder located next to the power cable. For 100 and 120 VAC use the T3.15A fuse. For 220 and 240 VAC use the T1.6A fuse. The fuseholder must also be inserted so that he arrow is pointing to the correct voltage.Using the incorrect fuse and settings may result in damage to your Control|24. The alignment arrow is at the 12 o'clock position of the socket. You must rotate the fuse holder insert so the following settings line up with the arrow. The most common mistake we've seen so far is units in the US set up for 100 volt operation and run at 120 volts. Setting up a unit like this can cause damage to the power supply and actually produce smoke! It's an easy mistake to make so we must be extremely careful in setting up units. For 100 volt operation (Japan): Use the 90-110 volt setting and the 3.15 amp fuse. For 120 volt operation (United States, Canada): Use the 108-120 volt setting and the 3.15 amp fuse. For 220 volt operation (UK): Use the 210-220 volt setting and the 1.6 amp fuse. For 240 volt operation: Use the 220-240 volt setting and the 1.6 amp fuse. |
