Q:
828 Firewire audion interface Drop outs using the 828 with the Dell Inspiro
A:
Some users of the 828 Firewire Audio Interface have been reporting signal drop outs and digital audio artifacts when using Dell Inspiron laptops.
We believe that these symptoms are a result of the Inspiron’s Firewire and Video cards sharing the same IRQ. These symptoms are aggravated when users make adjustments such as brightness or contrast to their Inspiron’s display. Raising the 828’s samples per buffer setting above 512 samples (in the 828 Console) seems to improve these symptoms but does not appear to be a complete fix. If you are experiencing this problem we recommend contacting Dell and inquiring about reassigning your computer’s IRQ settings.
