Q:
Cable Required to Connect a Yamaha Digital Instrument to a PC or Mac for Audio
Recording
A:
Audio recording involves recording the actual sound produced by a Yamaha digital instrument. The procedure involves connecting an audio cable from the analog outputs (AUX OUT L and R, LINE OUT L and R or PHONES/OUTPUT) of the Yamaha digital instrument to the Line Input of a PC or Mac. It is assumed that the PC or Mac is equipped with a standard stereo 1/8'' LINE INPUT connector. This connector is usually located on the sound card or motherboard of most PCs and on the motherboard of most Macs. The following information covers the most common connections.
NOTE: Most Windows and Mac operating systems come with basic audio recording software which can be used to test the audio connection, drivers and recording quality. The software usually permits the recording of a single track for a short amount of time.
