Q:
What do I need to do to set my mac G4 up for ProTools?
A:
With MAC shutdown, install hardware ,startup , then :
1.First back up any Data that is important! 2.Start your Mac off of a Mac OS 9.1 (or later) Installer CD. 3.Launch Drive Setup .(found in the “Utilities” folder on the Mac CD) 4.Initialize the MAC HD. 5.Name the new “Untitled” HD , “MAC HD” 6.Do a “Easy Install” of the Mac OS on the Mac HD. 7.Restart when completed.(eject CD when you can) 8.Now make Appletalk “inactive” (in the Chooser) , Set your Energy Control Panel to “Never”. 9.Go to the Extensions Manager , choose “Mac OS 9.x Base Set”. Duplicate it and name it “ProTools”. 10.Now Restart. 11.Insert the Protools CD, install OMS and Restart. 12.Now install ProTools to the Mac HD , then Restart. 13.Thats it! Launch ProTools and Start recording! (You may want to read manual first though!!)
