Q:
On the Akai S5000,How do I turn something I\'ve sampled into a program that can then be added to a Multi? I\'ve tried sampling a loop then choosing \"create Program\" but the program is empty.Am I missing a step?

A:
After you have recorded your samples:

Go to the main EDIT PROGRAM page, F15 is CREATE PROGRAM where you may create a brand new, empty program. Pressing this pops up a screen:

An auto numbered name is automatically assigned using the currently selected program name as a ‘seed’. You may, however, rename this if you want in the usual fashion either by using the CURSOR keys and the DATA wheel or more conveniently with an external QWERTY keyboard.

After you create the Program you MUST setup KEYGROUPS.

A Keygroup will determine what sample will be played when you hit a note. Each Sample can receive on its own Midi Note#. This is called Key Mapping. Map your samples as per your taste. Save this into the Program when done. You can now create a Multi (which holds Programs) containing your custom Program.

See the Akai Manual for futher instructions.
