Q:
How do I Install and Use the Adaptec 2906 SCSI Card with my new G4.
A:
1.With the MAc Shut Down ,Install the SCSi Card into the G4.
2.Close the case , hook up your External SCSI Devices (Power should be OFF on these too) , making sure they each have seperate SCSI ID numbers.Make sure the Last device in the SCSI Chain is TERMINATED! 3.Power up the SCSI Devices, and then the Computer. 4.Put in the 2906 CD that came with the SCSI Card. 5.Copy the “Adaptec 2906 Driver” into the Extensions folder in the System Folder which is in your Mac HD. 6.Restart the Mac. 7.Your External SCSI devices should now be available. If you are using CDR’s or Tape backup Drives , they will be available when you launch the Authoring Software (Toast,Jam Retrospect...ect..). If you have External Hard Drives connected, you may need to use the “SCSI Probe” Utility (included on the 2906 CD) to Mount the External Hard Drives so they appear on your Desktop.
