Downloading and Installing the Latest OS Update for the A4000

The latest OS update for the A4000 is version 1.50. Please make sure that the currently installed OS is lower than this version. See 'Checking the Current OS Version'.
Checking the Current OS Version: 1) Press the [DISK] button. 2) Press the [COMMAND/EXIT] button. 3) Turn knob (1) to the right one 'click'. 4) Push knob (4) that is located beneath the 'Load OS' screen menu item. The Load OS screen will appear and the current OS version will be displayed. 5) Turn OFF the A4000. Download Procedure: 1) Visit www.yamaha.com to download the latest Flash ROM Update file (Version 1.50). The instructions below explain the download process. a) Type in "A4000" to keybword search this information b) Click the button in the 'Disclaimer and Agreement' dialog box. The 'File Download' dialog box will appear. c) Select the 'Save this program to disk' radio button in the 'File Download' dialog box. d) Click the e) Select the Windows Desktop as the destination folder. 1] Click on the drop-down button in the 'Save In:' field and select 'Desktop'. ('Desktop' will appear at the top of the drop-down list) 2] Click the Extraction Procedure: 1) Double-click on the 'A4000.exe' application file that is located on the Windows Desktop. The 'WinZip Self-Extractor' dialog box will appear. a) Select the Windows Desktop as the destination folder for the Flash ROM files in the 'Unzip to folder:' box. 1] Click the 2] Select 'Desktop'. ('Desktop' appears at the top of the list) b) Click the c) Click the d) Close the 'WinZip Self-Extractor' dialog box by clicking on the NOTE: The above procedure will save one file to the Windows Desktop, '0475mst1.pgm'. Preparation Procedure: 1) Label one (1) 1.44MB (HD) floppy disk as 'Main'. 2) Copy the file to the floppy disk. a) Insert the floppy disk labeled 'Main' into the computer's floppy disk drive. b) Right-click the file '0475mst1.pgm' that appears on the Windows Desktop. A menu list will appear. c) Select 'Send To' and then select '3 1/2 Floppy (A)'. The file will be copied to the floppy disk. OS Installation Procedure: 1) Turn OFF the A4000. 2) Insert the floppy disk labeled 'Main' into the floppy disk drive of the A4000. 3) Turn ON the A4000. 4) Press the [DISK] button. 5) Press the [COMMAND/EXIT] button. 6) Turn knob (1) to the right one 'click'. 7) Push knob (4) that is located beneath the 'Load OS' screen menu item. 8) Press knob (1) to start the Load OS operation. The screen will display 'Load OS? Wave Memory will be erased. Are you sure?' 9) Select one of the following options: a) To continue, press Knob (5). The OS will start to load from disk. When finished, the screen will display 'Load OK. Upgrade OS?' b) To cancel, press Knob (4). 10) Select one of the following options: a) To continue, press knob (5). The OS upgrade will complete the installation process and the LEDs F1 - F6 will all illuminate. b) To cancel, press knob (4). 11) Turn OFF the A4000. When the A4000 is turned ON again, it will boot up with the new operating system. NOTE: It is recommended that the OS version be checked to make sure that the OS update was performed successfully. See 'Checking the Current OS Version'.
