Q:
Installing or updating the MP3 option for ProTools
A:
Whe downloading the latest MP3 Codec from digidesign.com, be sure to have the latest version of ProTools. Check online for latest versions of ProTools, DAE, etc.
Installing The MP3 Codec 1. Once the MP3 option has been downloaded, make sure that it has completely decompressed (you should have a folder named "MP3 Option v1.1.1" folder, with no suffixes like '.hqx' or '.sea' 2. Open the System Folder 3. Locate and open the "DAE Folder" within the System folder. 4. Locate and open the "Codecs" folder within the DAE Folder. 5. Locate and open the "MP3" folder within the Codecs folder. 6. Inside the Codecs folder, remove the old "MP3.dll" or "MP3Demo.dll" (you can drag it to the desktop or another folder), and replace it with the newly downloaded "MP3.dll" 7. The next time you run ProTOols and attempt an MP3 export, a dialogue will prompt you to enter a serial number. Enter the serial number you received when you purchased MP Export v1.0. You will only need to enter the serial number once. * ( The Protools installers should have already created the folders listed in steps 3-5, as well as the demo version of the MP3 option. If these folders do not exist in the DAE folder, create new folders inside the DAE folder with names that match the names above ).
