Aardvark Windows 2000 / Windows XP driver installation

WINDOWS 2000 / WINDOWS XP DRIVER INSTALLATION
------------------------------------------------------------------------ These instructions apply to the Aardvark Q10, Direct Pro 24/96, Direct Pro LX6, Aark 24, Aark 20/20+, Aark 20/20, and AarkTDIF. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ NOTE: IF YOU ARE INSTALLING AARDVARK DRIVERS AND HARDWARE FOR THE FIRST TIME, OR IF YOU JUST UPGRADED TO 2000/XP FROM WINDOWS 98 or ME SKIP STEP 2. IF YOU HAVE OLDER AARDVARK XP/2000 DRIVERS ON YOUR PC, DO ALL STEPS. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. Download the Aark_XP2K_635.EXE file from our website, by hitting the link at the bottom of this page. Run the Aark_XP2K_635.EXE file, which will unzip all the driver files. Let it unzip the files into the “c:\aardvark” directory 2. Remove files from previous versions by going to MY COMPUTER, select your C: drive, then the “c:\aardvark” folder (If you have not run the Aark_XP2K_635.EXE in step 1 above there will be no Aardvark folder on your C: drive, make sure you complete step 1). Double click “Aarkremove” to run the uninstaller. “Select Uninstall Method” dialog box appears. Click on the “Automatic” radio button then click on the “Next” button. A “Perform Uninstall” dialog box appears, click on the “Finish” button. If a “Remove Shared Component” dialog appears then click on the “Yes” button each time. An “Aardvark UnInstall requires a reboot” dialog appears, press the “Yes” button. Your computer will restart now and complete the uninstall. 3. Go to the Windows Control panel and double-click on the SYSTEM icon. If you are running XP and you do not see the System icon you may need to select the “Switch to Classic View” button so you can see it. Go to the HARDWARE tab, then select the DEVICE MANAGER button. 4. Double click on “Sound, video and game controllers” to expand the list of drivers in that category so that you can see your Aardvark audio card in the list. If neither Aardvark or “Multimedia controller” appear in the “Sound, Video, and Game controllers” menu, it may be in the “Other devices” menu, just above. 5. Right Click on your Aardvark product (it may be referred to as a “Multimedia Controller”, with a yellow exclamation point next to it), and select UPDATE DRIVER. 6. The “Hardware Update Wizard” dialog box will appear. Select “Install from a list of specific location” radio button and then click the “Next” button. 7. The “Please choose your search and installation options” dialog appears. Select the “Include this location in the search” radio button. Type in or browse to the location “C:\aardvark. Make sure other boxes are deselected. Then click the “Next” button. 8. After finding the driver, Windows should automatically begin installation followed by the Aardvark manager software. Note: a digital signature error will appear, you can safely ignore this and continue the installation. 9. A dialog “Aardvark Audio Cards Manager” Welcome dialog appears, press the “Next” button. 10. The “Select Destination Directory” dialog appears. Let the installer put the files into “C:\Program Files\Aardvark” directory, then press the “Next” button. Press the “Next” button again when the “Ready to Install” dialog appears. 11. A brief “README.TXT” window appears which lists some more information about the drivers. Hit “OK” button to dismiss it. When the “Installation Completed” dialog appears, hit the “Finish” button. A big window containing some icons appears, close it so you can see the dialog box underneath. 12. Finally you will see the “Completing the Hardware Update Wizard” dialog, hit the “Finish” button. 13. dialog box will appears that asks you to restart your computer. Restart your computer and your installation is complete! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ SONAR USERS: Don’t forget to go to Options/Audio/Advanced tab, then select the “Always use MME Interface” check box to enable our A|WDM driver. Be sure to see our Sonar tutorial to configure Sonar for ultra low-latency. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ PLEASE NOTE: Driver 6.35 for Windows 2000/XP does not currently support GSIF or multiple cards. These features will be avail be in a future upgrade, however.
