Yes, you can use a USB Hub if it is a self-power hub* ; one that plugs into an AC power outlet of its own. USB hubs that draw their power from the computer don't work well.

Once OMS is setup - detecting the MidiSport automatically. You can shut down the computer and connect the MidiSport to the HUB, then restart.
