After installing the plugins that come with my Digidesign Digi001, Pro Tools 5.3.1 is not working properlly in Windows XP. What can I do?

You will need to uninstall (Windows Control Panel, add/remove programs) the plugins, and download updated Windows XP versions of all the plugins from their websites.
