- Lower the CPU usage to 65% or lower in Pro Tools LE (Setups menu/Hardware window).
- Update Mac OS to 9.2.2 (this error is more common with 9.1).
- Remove RTAS Plug-Ins, since they take more Host time.
- For Apple laptop computers when using the battery:
Adjust the battery usuage of an Apple laptop computer: Apple Menu > Control Panels > Energy Saver. Under "Advanced Settings" there are three checkboxes that effect system performance. Uncheck three items in "Other Options": "Allow processor cycling", "Reduce processor speed", and "Increase application idle time". All of these settings have a dramatic effect upon performance of Pro Tools LE on a laptop.
