Q:
How do I create a DirectX Instrument (DXI) in Sonar version 1.x?
A:
1. In your arrange window, find an audio track and right-click on FX, choose DX Instruments, and choose the instrument you wish.
2. You can close the instrument's window when it pops up, or just minimize it. 3. Find a MIDI track and setup the input to be MIDI Omni, the output to be the instrument you chose, and pick a channel under CH. 4. Your instrument is now setup. The MIDI will work through the MIDI track, so any MIDI recorded will be on this track. The audio will work through the audio portion of the instrument, and you can apply audio effects, raise or lower the volume or pan, and can route it out any audio output available.
