Pro Audio Support

Q:
I'm builing a computer or having a computer built for audio, and I've heard I should not have a consumer soundcard in it, but all the motherboards I can find have a built-in audio card. What can I do?

A:
Most motherboards are coming with built-in soundcards in recent months, but in 99% of the cases, the built-in audio cards can be disabled from within BIOS and cause no problems at all. Some off-the-shelf computers that have built-in audio cards have no way of disabling them, so if you purchase a pre-built (basically a name-brand) computer, you may want to check to see if this is an issue.
