when the MAC boots up, it sets the recommended resolution for the monitor but to change it you must go the Monitors control Panel as you normally do but on the right side you will see the word Recommended - click and hold choose ALL - then you will see all the possible combination. If you are trying to lower the resolution, you must choose an option that says STRETCHED. Then it will fill the screen
