Q:
How do I uninstall and reinstall my Universal Audio Powered Plugins UAD-1 card?
A:
If an installation problem occurs, specifically one involving a software version mismatch, and no other solutions seem to resolve the problem, try this:
Please follow this procedure to reinstall the UAD-1 Powered Plugins software. 1. Go to Start / Settings / Control Panels and choose Add/Remove Programs. 2. Select "UAD-1 Powered Plug-ins" from the list, and click on the "Add/Remove" button. 3. Still in the Control Panels, choose System, click on the Device Manager tab. 4. Remove all entries under "DSP accelerators" in your system's device manager. Be sure that you have removed any copies of the software files you may have copied manually, or have moved from their original installation locations. Critical step: (Important Note: Make sure that you have "Show hidden files" enabled for all folders under "Tools/Folder options/View"): Perform a file search in your C:\Windows\inf directory for files CONTAINING the text "hyperactive". Remove each of the resulting files. There will be up to five files to remove. Make sure all of these files, if applicable, are deleted. C:\Windows\inf\hypkerw.inf C:\Windows\inf\hypkern.inf C:\Windows\inf\hypaudw.inf C:\Windows\inf\hypaudio.inf C:\Windows\system\HypGui.dll C:\Windows\system32\drivers\hypkern.sys C:\Windows\system32\drivers\hypkern.vxd C:\Windows\system32\drivers\hypaudio.sys C:\Windows\system32\drivers\hypaudio.vxd C:\Program Files\Universal Audio\Powered Plugins C:\Program Files\Universal Audio\Powered Plugins\UADPerfMon.exe C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD DelayComp.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD CS-1.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD EX-1.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD EX-1M.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD DM-1.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD DM-1L.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD RS-1.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD RealVerb-Pro.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD 1176LN.dll C:\Program Files\Steinberg\vstplugins\Powered Plugins\UAD LA2A.dll Now run the UAD-1 Powered Plugins installer version 2.1.0 (make sure that the installer is 2.1.0, our latest software version). Follow the including Quick Start Guide for complete installation instructions. When the installation has completed, you can verify whether the UAD-1 drivers have installed properly by checking your system's device manager, and by doing the following. Open the UAD-1 Performance Meter applet. (A shortcut to the program is on your desktop.) Click on the UAD icon in the upper-left hand corner of the Performance Meter and select System info. Then look under the UAD-1 hardware section. Make sure that Status and UAD-1 both display "OK". Then open your VST host software, and see how things sound.
