Q:
How do I work with custom bank change messages in Emagic Logic? I have a keyboard which requires both controller 0 (MSB) and controller 32 (LSB) bank change messages to select banks.
A:
This article assumes you have started setting up the instrument in the environment, which is another store altogether.
In the environment instrument, select Custom Bank Messages. Then go to Options - Define Custom Bank Messages. Bank 0 states that these messages will be sent when you select bank 0 in the Arrange window. You will need to Change two lines to read Bank 0 (click and drag down to change the Bank 1 to Bank 0). For the first one, select Num to be Control 32 (LSB) and Val to be the appropriate MSB bank change value for your keyboard/synth. For the second one, select Control 0 (MSB) and Val appropriately. Then, make two Bank 1 entries and so forth. If you need more lines, you can right-click on the word Control, and it will make a copy of that line and add it to the list. With this method, you can literally send a string of controller messages, if necessary, when you select a bank from the Arrange window. Note that the bank numbers now correspond to what YOU defined in this article, not specifically what the keyboard/synth uses.
