Q:
DAE error -6011 or "Pro Tools was unable to reaquire the Hardware and must now exit..." when playing or importing audio in the "Import Audio From Other Movie" window, or when importing a QT movie.
A:
This error could occur when importing audio from an audio CD or when importing a QuickTime movie that contains an audio track, when the Sound Drivers or d24 Output Drivers are loaded. When Pro Tools imports a Quicktime movie, it deacquires the current deck, imports the movie, then reacquires the deck. If other software (like Sound Manager) grabs the hardware when it's released by PT, then PT can reacquire it.Pro Tools 4.2 improves the reliability of this funtion.
