Q:
Why does the Digital Format light move back and forth between AES/EBU and S/PDIF when you first turn the ADAT Bridge on? Why does the digital light flash and the internal light stay solid?
A:
The ADAT Bridge comes with a standalone mode. When first turned on it will look at both the AES/EBU and S/PDIF ports for a valid word clock signal. If it sees one, it will lock to that word clock, the digital light will go solid, the sync mode will switch to digital, and the ADAT Bridge will pass the digital audio to all 16 ADAT optical ports. This allows you to transfer audio from your CD to an ADAT tape and lets you choose on which two tracks to record the information.

Why does the sample rate light flash on the ADAT Bridge when everything looks to be operating correctly? Sometimes I will choose a sync mode and the internal light will stay solid while the sync mode I want to use flashes. Switching into PT from the USD setup, the clock reference on the USD changes. No audio plays out of an Audio Interface when the Audio Interface is connected to a DSP Farm and a ADAT I/O is in the system. No audio during online playback. PT is receiving code and timeline is moving, but no meter activity. Offline playback is OK. |
