Q:
I'm getting clip lights in Pro Tools during a digital transfer from a DAT machine. How is this possible?

A:
It is possible to have the clip lights go on during a digital transfer because PT has no way of distinguishing between full code and clipping. If the signal doesn't sound clipped on DAT then it shouldn't sound clipped in PT. Be sure that your Sync Source is set to digital and that you are connected to the digital input 1-2 on the primary interface. Also, make sure that you pan the inputs left and right. If they aren't panned then you might hear clipping because of the level increase due to the summing of the two channels.
