Q:
Why do I get the message "unable to create DAE deck" when launching Pro Tools LE?

A:
128MB RAM is the minimum requirement that Pro Tools LE needs to launch. You need to set the minimum and preferred memory setting of DAE and Pro Tools LE 5.0 to default. Highlight each icon and choose Get Info from the File Menu, highlight each field (one at a time), type a 0 and press Enter on the numerical keypad to set the value to default.128MB RAM (192 or more highly recommend) is the minimum requirement that Pro Tools LE and the Mac OS with a base set of extensions needs to launch. You need to set the minimum and preferred memory setting of DAE and Pro Tools LE 5.0 to default. Highlight each icon and choose Get Info from the File Menu, highlight each field (one at a time), type a 0 and press Enter on the numerical keypad to set the value to default.Next, create a base extension set. Open the extension manager control panel. From the selected set pop-up menu, select "OS x.x base"click on "duplicate set at the bottom of the window and name the set "Digidesign."Scroll down and enable the DigiSystem INIT, Digidesign DSP Manager and Digidesign Output drivers, the Open Music System Extension and restart. If Pro Tools LE is still posting this message, then Pro Tools LE is not recognizing the hardware. Reseat the card and/or move the card to the lowest numbered PCI slot (next to the stock monitor card). Trash the DigiSetup file (System Folder->Preference Folder) and power down the CPU. Ground yourself against the power supply, completely remove the card and reinsert back into the PCI slot making sure that it "snaps"into place and the gold contacts are entirely swallowed by the PCI slot. In addition, reseat the peripheral cable both at the input to the card and the interface. Power up the computer and Launch PT.
