On Pro Tools 5.1 for windows, when prompted to enable the free MP3 trial period, clicking the cancel will cause an error message to appear. Subsequent attempts to bounce with the MP3 option will also fail.

At this point to successfully enable the MP3 trial period, you must exit Pro Tools and restart Windows.
