Latency on a host based system using Direct I/O.
 
A:
Direct I/O uses 256 sample buffers. 256 samples is equivalent toapproximately 5.8 ms. at 44.1 kHz. To pass from input to output requires 2 buffers, so the round trip from input to output with Direct I/O is approximately 11 ms.
