Q:
System crashes (Type 2, Finder Quits, etc.) when opening and/or closing Unity workspaces on the desktop of Pro Tools system.
 
A:
Incompatibility of Mac OS 9.2.1 and Unity 2.0. Either upgrade the Unity to 2.1 or downgrade the Pro Tools system to 9.1.
