Q:
What is the copy protection scheme for plug-ins on Pro Tools|HD systems?
A:
The new iLok USB dongle is now used and one is included with all Pro Tools|HD systems. They are blank and contain no plug-in authorizations. As of this writing (02/05/02) all Digidesign plug-ins will work on Pro Tools|HD systems using the current floppy authorization system and can key off of previously installed floppy authorizations with the exception of Reverb One, Bruno/Reso, DINR, and Virus, which require iLok authorization. When you register a Pro Tools|HD system Customer Service will verify if you own any of the 4 plug-ins listed above. If you do own Reverb One, Bruno/Reso, DINR, or Virus, Customer Service will send you the appropriate authorizations on a smart card. You can then authorize these plugins for your Pro Tools|HD system.
