Q:
My Peavey PC1600 controller does not get initialized (i.e. the Presets are downloaded to the device) by Pro Tools when I launch the software.
A:
A self extracting file is available at the following link (it contains both a Pro Tools 5.1 session as well as a Standard MIDI file) that accompanies the following instructions: www.digidesign.com Initialize your PC1600 controller by powering up while holding down the Utility and Enter buttons. Launch the session I have attached in Pro Tools LE. 2- Have OMS search and recognize your interface and configure a device for the PC1600 (make sure you keep MIDI channel 1 enabled in the Receive Channels of the device info window). 3- Launch the attached session and set the destination of the MIDI track to the PC1600 channel 1. Play the session and the SysEx data on the track will download the presets into your PC1600 controller (you should see the LCD panel of the controller flicker). You should now have 7 Pro Tools presets (number 00 thru 06).4- In the Setups>Peripherals>MIDI Controllers window, enable the PC1600 device and set the sends and receives popup menu to the PC1600 channel 1 (this is assuming you have MIDI Send and Receive channels on the PC1600 set to 1 which is the default after initialization). In case you don't have another MIDI interface at your disposal. I have included a Standard MIDI File of the PC1600 SysEx data. This way you can open it at anywhere (studio, store, etc) with any MIDI program, set your destination to the PC1600 and you should be good to go.
