Q:
Error when attempting to import any file type (including SDII, AIFF, or other non-.wav files) into Pro Tools 5.1.3 and 5.3: "[filename] must be converted to be used because it is not BWAVE/AES31 compatible and current application preferences require that it be"
A:
This is a known issue when the "Convert all imported '.wav' files to AES31/Broadcastwave" preference is checked in Preferences > Compatibility. At the time of this writing, the feature works correctly when importing non-BWAVE .wav files, but creates unnecessary duplicate copies of all other file types.
