Q:
When I'm recording online Pro Tools only records for about a second and then reverts to sync playback
A:
Double check that your giving Pro Tools enough Preroll so that it has time to buffer the audio. The correct amount will vary from tape to tape and session to session. Start with at least 3 seconds and increase this if necessary. Also double check that your session frame rate matches your source. Mis-matched frame rates are a sure way to make this happen, even mis-matching drop/non-drop can make Pro Tools behave this way when recording online.
