Q:
Why doesn't my M-Audio Audiophile USB get sound when I plug a microphone into the inputs? Does it have a microphone preamp built-in?
A:
The Audiophile USB does not have a built-in microphone preamp in it. You will need to use an external mic preamp to run a signal into it or the signal level will be much too low to use. This also applies to guitars.
