Will Pro Tools 6.0 work without hardware connected? Why do I keep getting an error while launching "Unable to Create DAE Deck"?

No. All versions of Pro Tools 6.0 require that supported Digidesign hardware be connected.
If the hardware is connected and the error persists, try running the Pro Tools Installer again, this time choosing "Uninstall" instead of "Custom Install". After Uninstall is complete, reinstall again, taking care to only select the Pro Tools package for your hardware.
