Q:
I am struggling to get modulation of loop points and loop length to work, or to understand how they work. For example I have sample that is 8000 samples long. Loop start is at 5000 and loop end is at 8000. I then let CC01 modulate Loop End, and turn the modulation intensity to -100. Now I would intuitively thought that when pressing the modwheel up, the loop end point would move towards position 5000. That is, modwheel 0 -> 127 should make Loop End 8000 -> 5000, the loop should become smaller and smaller and when modwheel is at max, the loop is very small. The same problem goes for modulating loop start. I would think that the start point would move towards the loop end point scaled to fit the modulation source. I can hear that something happens with the loop, but the polarity of the modulation has to be opposite of what I think it should be, and I can no way tell what happens to my loop but I guess it moves the whole loop or something. I am very sure that there is no scaling going on between the mod source span and the loop size.

Regarding loop length modulation (loop end itself cannot be modulated BTW): with mod amount +100 : wheel 0->127 the loop is getting longer. With mod amount -100 : wheel 127 -> 0 loop is getting longer also loop start: the whole loop is moved, the length stays the same So a CC can be used to make a loop longer or to move the loop start point behind, modulation amount to negative values does only revert the direction of the mod wheel so to say. To achieve shortening of a loop by moving e.g. the mod wheel up you have to set the initial loop length as short as needed an set the modulation amount to a negative value. When now moving the mod wheel up the loop will get shorter.
