Q:
How to I sync ProTools 6.1 and Digital Performer 4 together on the same machine?

A:
There are two ways to sync ProTools 6 and DP4 on the same computer. Follow either set of steps for sync. *(Be sure to do one OPTION or the other, but not both)

OPTION #1, Slaving DP4 with ProTools as the master:

1. Launch ProTools first and open (or create) a Session
2. Launch Digital Performer second, and open (or create) a project.
3. IN DIGITAL PERFORMER:
(a) go to the SETUP menu, and choose "Interapplication MIDI..."
(b) Click the ADD button below the "Inputs" section so that
"DP Input" appears, then close the window.
(c) Return to the SETUP menu, and choose "Receive Sync". Set "Sync to port" to "DP Input. Be sure "Type of Sync" is set to "MTC, DTL or DTLe". Then click OK to close the window.
(d) Click the "Clock" icon on DP's transport control panel to enable "Slave to external". Press the PLAY button for DP to wait for sync.
4. IN ProTools:
(a) From the WINDOWS menu, choose "Show Session Setup".
(b) Expand the "Time Code Settings" and click "MTC to PORT" to enable it. In the pop-up below, choose "Predefined >>> DP Input"
5. Press PLAY in ProTools, and DP will begin playing too.
