Q:
When logged into any account in OSX other than the "root" admin, DP4 won't allow me to access MIDI device patchlists.
A:
Like most files in Mac OS, the MOTU device name folder has limited access (a.k.a. Permission). This access limitation can be easily fixed by following these steps:
1. Quit all applications 2. Log in to your "root" user... the main administrative account. 3. Open Mac HD > Library > Audio > Midi Devices. 4. Inside the Midi Devices folder, single click on "MOTU" so that it is highlighted. Then choose GET INFO from the FILE menu.... a window should appear called "MOTU Info" 5. In "MOTU Info", click the arrow next to "Ownership and permissions". It will probably look like this: Owner = (name of the root user) Access = Read & Write Group = staff (me) Access = No Access Others = No Access Here, simply change "Group" Access to "Read & Write", and "Others" to "Read & Write" as well. 6. Close the "MOTU Info" window. 7. Logging into other accounts will now allow patchlists to appear in DP4.

Reaktor 4 (4.03) works fine in the "root" admin user, but not in any other OSX account. The console log reports an error -22.
