Some users have noticed less than expected performance with the G5 and audio applications. This is often because in the G5 Energy Saving Options the processor speed is set by default to “automatic”. Unfortunately this setting is incompatible with real time audio applications and has the effect of setting the processor speed to “minimum”. For audio work we recommend setting this option to “maximum”. You should see performance increases of 30-40%!

For G5 users still running Jaguar we recommend updating to Panther, since Jaguar has no “maximum” setting in this dialog.
