Q:
When I run Power DVD XP or Intervideo WinDVD, my audio playback through the M-Audio FireWire 410 is choppy, what can be done about this?
A:
The default buffer setting in the hardware tab in the FireWire 410 control panel is defaulted to 256 Samples per buffer.
DVD playback applications generally prefer 512 samples per buffer setting. Although this setting may need to be adjusted depending on your systems ability to handle process intensive applications. DVD playback applications many times will take as much as 35 to 50% of total system resources, additional applications may also need to be closed in order to achieve clean audio playback.
