Q:
When I open any ProTools session on a particular hard drive I get the message, "“[x] number of files are on volumes unsuitable for playback. Would you like to copy them to a suitable volume?”
A:
The drive you're trying to open sessions from maybe have been designated as (or changed to) a "transfer only" drive. Try the following steps one at a time and see if they help.
1. Change the definition of the system drive from “T” in DigiBase (aka Workspace). 2. Restore permissions: Run the Disk Utility application (Applications/Utilities) and select “Repair Disk Permissions” for your system drive. 3. Uninstall and reinstall Pro Tools. 4. If you continue to have problems, contact technical support.
