On kits with the TD-20 module:

Press 'Instrument'
Press F3 to get to the MIDI page
Srike the pad you want to configure, and set the Transmit channel.

note: on multi-trigger pads, a different channel can be set for each note (i.e. the snare trigger's head can send data to a different channel than the rim of that same trigger)
