Q:
ProTools LE 6.4 freezes on launch when loading plugins.
A:
In some cases, removing the demo plugins that are available on the Pro Tools installer disk stops the problem.
1. Check the Mac HD > Applications > Digidesign > Pro Tools folder for "timecode.dll" and "OMF.dll." Drag these two items into the trash. 2. Launch Pro Tools LE and see if it freezes again. If it does while loading plugins, watch to see what plugin is loading when it freezes and remember that plugin. Then force quit ProTools by pressing the Option-Apple-ESC keys. 3. Go to Mac HD > Library > Application Support > Digidesign > Plugins. Inside this folder, locate the plugin you notated from step #2 and drag it to the trash. (You may need to repeat steps 2 and 3 a few times to locate and remove all the "offending" demo plugins)
