Yes, one way to get it to work on older computers is to set a reasonable polyphony limit. You can also disable any number of the 128 internal audio channels to achieve slightly better performance. For example, if you are running on a couple-year-old computer and don't need to do a full orchestral score, you could set the polyphony limit to something like 128 and use maybe 16 channels of the audio mixer.
