Q:
What does the loop sync feature in IK Multimedia Sampletank 2 do in Pro Tools?
A:
This feature allows you to use a loop, even a loop originally created at a different tempo than desired, within your Pro Tools session and Sampletank will automatically synchronize it to the Pro Tools tempo.
Example: Your Pro Tools session song is at a tempo of 132 BPM, but the loop you want to add to the session is at 110 BPM. Instead of calculating the difference, stretching or compressing it appropriately, and then carefully starting it at the beginning of the session, all you need to do is have Sampletank do this for you. As long as the name of the loop file's name contains "110", Sampletank will know that it needs to do the necessary alteration to change 110 BPM into 132 BPM. Basically, it does all the hard work for you.
